A proper estate plan allows you to direct how your assets are distributed. They may be distributed to family, friends or charities. The choice is yours. You get to choose where it goes if you have it properly planned.

Every one that owns property needs estate planning. Without an estate plan, your property is distributed according to the intestacy laws of the state where you live. This is done without regard to your wishes or the needs of your family.

Many of us plan for income taxes and, yet don’t do anything about estate taxes. We assume that estate taxes, unlike income taxes, only affect people with large estates. With life insurance, retirement funds and real estate many of us have taxable estates.

The estate tax is fully repealed in 2010. For one year only. In 2011 it is then reinstated to the laws now in effect. Therefore, it is important to review and revise your estate plan. The financial stability of your spouse and children depend on this. We can assist you in making sure your wishes are carried out, your family gets the most, and the government the least.

Now is the time to take charge of your future. If you haven’t begun planning your estate, contact us and we will help you get started. If you already have an estate plan in place we would be happy to review it with you and to help you make sure it will meet your goals.
